Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.

Grow a beard, dye strands of your hair white, wear old man shoes, and tuck in your neck to speak low/deep. You got this!
And pull your pants up to your armpits
Roland!!! I’m about to interview with you! Glad to see you’re as nervous as I am!
hope we both do alright !
Separate their age from their experience and be open to how their career may be different from your trajectory
thanks appreciate the feedback. forget im in a bubble sometimes
I just interviewed someone younger who is technically more senior when accounting for current roles, no big deal. You worked hard to get where you are, don’t worry about age.
thanks, appreciate the personal experience and perspective
Be realistic about the job and expectations. If they really have 10yrs more exp than you they likely applied for the wrong job.
if they’re 10 years your senior but in a more junior role, consider that you might have way more in common with them than other people currently in the role for which you’re interviewing. that should give you a sense of comfort and familiarity.
If you want something younger, here am I with 2 yoe ready to step up
Focus on the skill set they have relative to the job that needs doing. Age in role changes a lot around the world (eg in Europe it’s not uncommon to graduate college in your late 20s).
Weird flex, but OK.
