Accounts got offered an analyst position in Deloitte’s Controllership Advisory department. I’m coming with one year of audit experience, and I absolutely hated audit. Should I accept this position? I joined Mindtree on 8th Feb and not got project and I was waiting for last 2 and half month. So, i gave interview outside (tech mahindra) and got selected. Almost 30-35% they said they will give and i am negotiating on it.

Asking for advice- I’ve realized consulting is not the path for me long term and have had plans to quit. I’m currently staffed on a project alone and feel lost as I don’t have much experience in this line of work. Deadline is approaching and I have voiced my concerns to finish in time. Manager is still reviewing my work and the turnaround time to make revisions and finish phase 2 work seems unlikely within a few days. Is it unreasonable to ask for another resource to help finish?

Any advice on how to request a 20% raise? This is my first career out of college. I signed my offer letter knowing that I was being underpaid by 10%, as per the posted position salary. My 1-year appraisal is close and I would like to request 20% based on an increased workload; I would also like to make up for being underpaid my first year.

My dilemma: Many companies only pay up to a 4% raise. However, that will not cover much in this economy, and I would still be still underpaid.

I left Audit at a midsize firm to join KPMG erp implementation consulting about 6 months ago. So far they seem to only want to staff me on projects with a heavy focus on technical accounting and audit. Spoke to a lot of others who have left and seems like being pigeonholed or staffed on projects not related to the actual core work of the practice is the common reason. I've been on the fence about whether I should stay and hope to be staffed on better projects in the future or leave soon...
