After getting my H1B, got new taxes on my paycheck... Guess what, after 1 year at EY my paycheck actually shrinked😵

Exploring finance roles (program finance, FP&A) in the Northern VA / DC area (HCOL) after 9 YOE as an active duty financial management officer. I am usually being offered senior financial analyst roles at about the $120K mark. I’ve been looking into roles with the tech industry but so far most of the offers have been from aerospace/defense/it services. Does this sound like a reasonable entry point and salary or can I reach for higher?

I’m really discouraged. My after tax / after 401k contributions etc. take home pay is $6,500 monthly. I have $60,000 in savings / stocks for a down payment but even looking at a $550,000 home, my monthly payment would be about $3,400 from the calculators I’ve been using. Is that too high?

So discouraged that houses where I live are about 50% higher than what they were 2 years ago, and now interest rates are around 5.25% for my credit score. This is like a 1750 sq foot home

Knowing that I’m 50% tier in my level, how can I go up to the 75% or the higher end of my level? My manager says I’m a competitive hire but it’s not reflected in the comp. So I’m super confused
