I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY

you will flourish because you will be in a better headspace.

You will work normal hours and win awards. In my experience, rest makes for more compelling work. Not stress.
Boy have I got a movie for you
Coach
It’s actually really hard to find balance and takes a lot of work. The good news is that you are on the right path.
When I started my whole goal was to win awards. Didn’t care much for titles, I wanted to make money but that was secondary l. I had in my mind that I’d aim for a bronze, and grow from there. But the first time I won I won big stuff. Multiple golds, 1 GP, etc.
And since I crossed that on my list I just lookjed somewhere I could get well paid and not stress that much anymore.
And that was also not healthy either and I stalled my career without ambitions.
I’m on a much better place now. I’m back at winning awards but not for vanity. I made a career plan and actionable things I can do to achieve that goal and awards is part of it. But since it’s a means to an end you get more selective.
You can have work life balance. But you can’t have work life balance all the time. The balance lies in not having time for everything equally. It lies on you deciding when it’s worth pushing and when you can step down and do something else. And doing voluntarily and consciously not forced and obsessive.
Those who determine the success of one’s career simply from the awards they have listed definitely need therapy, too. Good on you for getting in a healthy place!
Award winning work can happen during regular business hours too. Everything doesn’t need to be some hustle culture Bullshit.
Who cares about awards they’re meaningless, nobody outside our industry even knows what a clio or lion is.
Jk I still desperately want to win an award.
I’ve won lots of awards and have barely ever worked late. Be smart about when you work late. When you have a good opportunity, make the most of it and do what it takes. If you work this way, your occasional late nights will be exciting and energizing and you’ll enjoy your job much more. Don’t burn yourself out on churn work.

Just fine
Awards don’t progress your career, responsibility and titles do.
