After one Zoom interview a law firm offered to fly me to their HQ to meet the team. They did not specify if it’s a second interview, but it seems like more of a formality. I’m anticipating an offer. I’ve also been litigating for two years and this is for an entry level corporate associate transactional role, which is what I’m aiming to transition into.

Any advice or comments on what to expect and how to best prepare for both this trip and as an entry level corporate associate?

No advice, but would love to hear about your job search process, as I’ve also been in litigation for two years hoping to transition to a transactional role

Thank you everyone who replied. I successfully transitioned to my dream job at this new firm. Great work life balance. And they gave me a 35K raise after 8 months for exceeding all expectations. already discussions of a partner track. Truly life changing and couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much everyone 🙏🏽

For those who asked about selling myself, with limited actual corporate transaction i went all in on selling my personality and personal interest in corporate law. I had started a couple small businesses as side hustles and really leaned into my personal interest in corporate counsel, and showed my prior lit experience would seemlessly transition into learning corporate transactions. I have a background in philosophy and explained my interest in the origins and philosophy of corporations. I also sold my ability as a true team collaborator that is better suited toward growing something accomplished by deal-making rather than fighting in litigation, and was just honest that litigation wasn’t for me and I wanted a different lifestyle and career path. I felt that explaining why I tried and didn’t like lit helped them trust that I wanted to be a transactional lawyer.

Hello everyone , I want to Join NT can anyone help get into NT

When you recruiters say at the end of a 15 min call.
“I will get back to you by the end of this week” does that really mean “your not right for this position”? Because this whole thing is a waste of time. I’ve did these calls with 3 recruiters and is yet to hear back from someone. Today would be the 4th recruiter that I’ve spoken to. Does this practice annoy you guys just as much as it does us? My dream career is to be a technical recruiter but this whole thing is discouraging.

Hi all- My SO is currently at a Big4 & was initially preparing for S&O roles at GCP but given the high number of ex MBB consultants hired, they believe its just more competition to get the offer & to eventually get promoted over time.

Instead, they have decided to pursue program manager or cloud consultant roles, which they feel might have a lower barrier to entry from an assessment standpoint. Not sure if the bowl agrees but would like to get your thoughts, thanks!
