Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.

No. Most of us enjoy the flexibility, especially with two little kids like myself. We were just as efficient if not more during the pandemic working from home than we are going into work. The commute eats up 90-120 min a day for me, I can spend that time working at home and not have to work stupid late hours after the kids go to sleep.
Companies are trying to justify their leases and its optics for clients. The only benefit to going in is to see other people, the social aspect. They keep saying “random encounters lead to great ideas, easier to coordinate, etc etc”. Not true, a teams call and working sessions does the same. I only want to go in to see my colleagues and friends.
Perspective….working as an architect for 30+ years. When my youngest was in daycare, she attended one close to my office downtown, so I wouldn’t be over an hour away….I never saw my house in the daylight in the winter. When she started school, we chose to sell the far suburban house & move to a smaller, older house closer to work. My 30 mile commute reduced to 8, time saved was tremendous. 2 more kids were born, still in the small house. Never regretted it. May not work in all situations but was the best decision for us. A bonus-25 years later, the close in house has appreciated in value twice as fast as our old home.
Yes. The spontaneous collaboration that occurs on projects is crucial for creating design, details and other elements needed for building great buildings and spaces. This cannot occur without the team working together in the office. We’ve tried; it doesn’t work & slows down the process. It also creates animosity if there are those who work from home a lot and then come into the office & find their ideas are not in sync with the rest of the in office team, who have been collaborating and progressing the design while in the office in 10-15 minute conversions. Plus-I’ve seen way too many mistakes!!!! Not enough questions asked. Again-the spontaneous mentoring that occurs in the office is critical to one’s skill and career development. My company still provides plenty of flexibility for everyone to do what they need to do-WFH until your 10 am Dr appt.? Fine! Leave early for kids soccer game? That’s ok too. We just expect most work to be done in the office!
