It’s only dumb if you don’t learn something 💙
I learned lots but still think working agency side is dumb
Honestly, probably.
But it's layoffs galore client side right now, too. So, lose-lose really.
idk about dumb.., there are a lot more layoffs thats for sure but agency life can give you some skills and insights to take back to client side when or if you decide agency life isn't worth it
Leave after a year (if you’re not laid off first). Go back client-side. Stress how much more knowledge you gained from the experience but you really miss working brand-side.
Are agencies really that volatile that you get laid off before a year? I guess I was naive but I see people move up the ranks so fast at agencies I thought it would be a good place to grow
I did the same. There's a lot of feeling that the grass is greener on both sides of the equation. I borderline regret it, but I've definitely learned a lot in the time I've been agency side. I'm definitely going back brand side when I get the opportunity, but for now it's manageable.
As others have said, layoffs and toxic environments happen everywhere.
Ah yes, the age-old expression, “The grass is greener on both sides of the equation.”
What’s your experience? Our opinions are meaningless because they lack the context you possess. For me, I wouldn’t go back to Agency life. But then again they probably wouldn’t have me. :-)
Brand side is boring but it’s great if you’re a parent or someone that prefers deep work and work/life balance.
Agency has its upsides because you’re never bored but downside is that many require you to work 50-60 hr weeks, they pay low and bc you’re so busy, you can’t get a side job to make more $$$ and lots of burnout and terrible for neurodivergent people esp long term.
