Larger shops have a structure. Project managers. Design teams. Presentation teams. At small local shops, you’ll be wearing a lot of different hats. Which can be fun…but I found myself missing PMs. Too many instances of me juggling 10 things and suddenly realizing I’m four days late on the 11th thing.
Hahahahaha I wish my largeish shop had PMs, most we have are account people that act as yes men.

I know some Indy shops that work on Super Bowl spots with large production budgets. But if you mean agency fees, yeah, probably paying them less because they usually have less overhead/employees.
Resources can be a blessing and a curse. You will have a better chance to produce a range of work at smaller shops. The flip side of that is being spread across more projects and brands than you would at a network, which is not for everyone.
Thanks for the replies everyone! Decided to make the move to a local shop because I was offered a lot more money + title bump. Only thing I’ll miss I think is a project manager!
Usually higher salaries at network agencies.
