any advice for switching from audit to consulting? i feel like i’m focusing on the wrong things, such as content and deadlines in audit as opposed to formatting, presentation and listening to the client (important topics and random) in consulting?

I have a real estate client who at the top of his organization chart owns is 50/50 partners in a real estate investment company. First question is it advantageous to have the top of the organization 50/50 partners own the r/e company as an s-corp? That 50/50 company then owns 70% of holding company they own all the real estate as a partnership that the original partners are 35/35 and the investors own the remainder. All the real estate deals are then owned by this holding company.

Finally got major client signed. Got high-fives from CEO who’s already marketing said major client. Can’t get finance to approve freelance needed to actually do the work.

What are your strategies for completing work efficiently? How do you figure out how long projects should take? A consistent piece of feedback on my yearly reviews has been that I over-bill & spend too much time on assignments. It’s something I actively work on, but I still have no concrete sense of how long I should spend on basic tasks (e.g., drafting a motion to dismiss). My firm is right to expect that I manage my time better as a mid-level associate. WFH has made my time management worse.
