Hi fellow fishies!
Can someone please explain what is “SUPPLEMENTARY allowance” in my payslip??? It is the highest in my entire payslip, more than basic salary. Basic is lets say ₹7 lac annually and supplementary bonus is ₹7 lac 40 thousand.
Can someone please explain why this exists in my paylslip, is it good or bad from tax perspective and shall I ask my HR to decrease it???
Please help asap.

Seems like a great offer! I’m two years out and my offer was in the same TC ballpark. Ask about what the stock refreshes look like. The FAANG offer I just took for a semi-technical product role is 160k base, 20k signing, 105k RSUs over 4 years. EOY Bonus wasn’t specified, but I’ve heard from my team that it has ranged anywhere from 40k to 100k for the absolute top performers in a mix of cash and stock. If your role is non-technical, I’d say that’s phenomenal comp—probably won’t find a better role in terms of TC (though higher base is def possible).
Target numbers for 2-3 YOE in tech (product, strategy) imo are: 130-160k base (weird band, but it’s just what the levels look like), 5-50k signing (signing bonuses vary by company, but I’d usually expect 10-20. One friend got 50, but that was a weird role), at least 75k RSUs vesting over 4 years (though my friends and I usually have seen 100-120k; vesting period usually stays the same though). EOY bonus is never really specified
In general, expect to exit to L4 at Google, ICT3 at Apple, L61/62 at Microsoft, and the equivalents at Facebook (E4, I think?) and Amazon (Not sure how their leveling works—check levels.fyi)
And see if you get a signing bonus
