The strategy boutique I'm working at requires all staff to sign a strict universal no-trading policy covering all publicly traded securities - is this common practice in the industry and is there any way for me to engage in trading stocks [tbc. mutual funds are still a-ok]? UK-based fwiw.

How do you save for retirement? Can your financial advisor do it on your behalf?

like

I can still invest in funds - the restriction is only for individual securities. Sorry if that was unclear!

like

I can’t really think of a good justification for this......

A complete ban on trading is not common, or at least isn’t the policy here. Our restrictions are limited to clients (current and recent past) and we have to disclose individual stocks we own to compliance. Even in your situation though you can still buy mutual funds/etfs.

Work at delitte and we cannot trade any security we audit even if foreign subs, also can only use approved platforms and need to clear every trade and document it. Is part of how we comply w PCAOB and independence.

Yeah to be clear to everyone above: I'm still allowed to invest in index trackers etc. - I have an auto-payment set to vanguard.

Could you let me know what your employer contributions to your company pension scheme are?
For instance, they contribute half of your contribution up to a maximum of 3%. Before any tax incentives etc.
Interested to see the variances, it seems to be substantial from what I've seen. If it changes with level/seniority, please make that clear as well so we can differentiate between companywide averages and individual circumstances / positioning.

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

Would have to finance the whole thing myself. Current net worth is 140k. Thoughts?
