Job-Hunting reach-out to VC from previous fundraising effort for own startup
I have e-mail archive from 1y ago of my reach-out to 65 VCs in London: we had video calls, they might remember me still, who knows.
I want to send a reply/forward message to the same e-mail thread from abc@gmail.com, saying that I am looking for roles within their VC firm. Is that a good idea?
Or shall I just start new email thread and mention how I know them?
Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

Partner admission from MD is a rare circumstance at EY but that’s not the bag of goods they’re selling to potential candidates
Are you currently at EY?
Am currently an EY partner and I am seeing a lot more of these MD to partner promotions as of late. We changed over the last year or two and it’s a very viable path now. It will only increase with time. So forget about what you knew from the past, things have definitely changed.
🤔 are you selling the kool-aid or being genuine? We’ll never know.
I thought this was uncommon
Uncommon but it does happen and there are discussions about making this more common, at least in Tech consulting.
Reality is if there is not more than a handshake commitment and it does not happen inside 18-25 months, it is not goi nag to happen. They are just baiting you to join. I’ve see this happen as a recommender for another MD.
So, in summary, even in the long term a promotion to equity partner from MD is very uncommon. Correct?
I’m not at EY but I’ve only known a handful of MD->P equity grant conversions at B4 (minus KMPG where MD is a required step). It’s beyond rare because it almost signals that the team made a mistake in making someone an MD vs P and we know that us P’s hate letting other people know that we were wrong. 😂
What I heard at EY is that, due to having less space for new equity partners, they are trying to have more Senior Managers to become MDs and then make a more frequent promotion into equity partners for those who earned it.

EY has a thing called “path MD” where people are vetted for Principal role and hired into MD but formally tagged as “path to principal”. It is to give new Direct Admits a lower risk process that doesn’t see them flame out in their first year (no pipeline, not network, etc). But guarantee they get the Principal opportunity. This is a discussion to be had with the hiring practice leader.
This is how it works for some MDs coming in. We also have converted a handful of internal MD promotes to Partner and also converted Partners to MD (some at retirement and some for performance).
Kind of impossible. I know that’s the way may be positioned .. but..
I have 2 direct admit MDs that were promoted to Principal in my practice this year. It is possible but requires consistent performance in exceeding your targets for the year for at least 3 years
