I never understand this justification. Publicis isn't a real estate company and couldn't care less whether the buildings they're leasing space in are valuable or not.
Some (not all, but enough) people are abusing WFH that the top brass is noticing. This is why we can’t have nice things.

It’s a way to drive people out. IBM for example is “cracking down” on remote work. They’ve had remote work for sales staff for probably 20+ years. Now all of a sudden they’re saying to relocate to office hubs or client locations? It’s because more senior people are established and are opting for early retirement rather than move.
It’s gonna cost agencies the top talent who have the leverage to go somewhere that allows WFH

Because overall quality of work is better when informed by random interactions and collaborations. Because humans need to be with other humans to maintain a healthy grasp on their shared reality. Because advertising at its finest is not just checking off against a project management deliverables report but about big ideas and working with teams to make them better and achievable. Because most agencies companies are still super flexible compared to pre pandemic so people can usually create an in office plan that works for them.

Work from home was destroying the commercial real estate market. Corporate America could not let that happen.
Toss in the desire by said Corporate America to micromanage the employees, you get the perfect storm.
