McKinsey & Company I received an offer from McKinsey & Company in 2021 and I’ll be starting later this year after graduation. Obviously because of the pandemic, inflation is slowly trending upwards. Has anyone asked for a base salary increase before even starting the job? Any advice on how to approach this?

I do in house M&A type work at a fund. So not quite what you are looking at but may still be somewhat relevant. It is better than being in biglaw (for my tastes) but it’s still plenty of work and stress. We rely heavily on outside counsel. It is not a lifestyle position, but it doesn’t pay like a lifestyle position either - it is about $375-400k all in (base+bonus) coming out of biglaw as a 6th/7th year with some room to grow that gradually. So less than biglaw fully loaded but not drastically. But I love not doing timesheets and stressing about billable hours. I also think I prefer the nature of in house work. But my sense is the market is roughly efficient, insofar as for higher paid in house jobs, you’ll work your a— off and for true 9-5 lifestyle in house job you could easily take a 50 percent pay cut to big law
Yeah feel free to
There have been several posts about this previously you can use the search feature to find but TLDR anywhere doing a lot of M&A and WLB is the same.
