Anti the train? The expo line is the nicest one. I did the reverse route for a year until I moved to Hollywood.
I used to take the E before Covid. My experience was much like D1 in terms of level of crazies. It’s nothin like NYC (I lived there and took subways everywhere) in that there were far fewer disgusting, smelly and dangerous feeling people on the train. Especially the E which was a lot of people doing what D1 is doing (professionals commuting to office jobs).
I did see some petty stuff like a girl get her phone snatched out of her hand at a stop, but nothing violent…like anywhere you have to have your head on a swivel. I even used to pull out my laptop when I needed to if I looked around and it felt like I could.
Caveat is that this was all pre-Covid, no idea if it’s changed. I’m also a 6’2” 210 lb man that rarely feels threatened like women do.
I think we have an internal Slack group for carpools, remember seeing it somewhere
I don’t drive either but been taking the bus to DTLA for work if you can catch the express one, which I found is safer than the train but much slower.
