For people who were around for the 2008-2009 crash, if there is a recession is it better to be ‘general corporate’ or to pick a practice group? Or are chances of being laid off the same?
I’ll be honest: I worked agency side for a while, economy got wonky, laid off and then ended up client side. I dont think I have the strong work to get back agency side (an even longer story.) [cont.]
With all the recent layoffs I really hope Deloitte is not internally celebrating their “revenue growth”. For those laid off, wishing you all the best in your job search.💛
Can you negotiate severance payout?
My account partner is doing a terrible job and will be getting fired—timeline TBD. Given we are living in a pandemic, I want to give them a heads up to start job hunting. How inappropriate is that? How could I do it?
Does anyone else have crippling pre-review anxiety? I am usually chill but reviews kill me for weeks in advance. I fluctuate from optimism to certainty I will be fired & look for clues everywhere.
Anybody every been fired without HR involved ?
Is booze allen Hamilton (bah) having any layoffs. Friend joined Bah last year Nov and was on prj till March.been on bench since then and now scared that layoff can happen anytime. Since they are new to bah don't have much network and don't know if others are let go. Any insight will be useful
Laid off 3 wks ago. Had all my hopes pinned on this one job, which after 4 rounds of interviews I didn't get today :(
Please help. I was laid off last week. I am international and my OPT is coming to an end very soon. I had a call with an immigration lawyer, Deloitte unfortunately does not offers additional support for immigrants aside from said call. I am in need of a job ASAP. I have until July 24th to find a job or I will have to start a new educational program or leave the US. Personally, leaving the US is not viable. Skills: AWS Solutions Architect Associate, PowerBI/data viz, SQL, blockchain (cont.)
Is it weird to ask colleagues to endorse your skills on LinkedIn? Not convinced that they really matter, but also worried about getting laid off and every little bit could help land a new gig if I need...
Has anyone been fired? Recently happened to me and I'm struggling with how to deal with it. Like how do I tell my SO, parents, friends?
How many people have you fired?
I know someone that might be affected by the Activision layoffs, and he’s only 6 months out of UG. Any tips or advice that I could give him?
Anyone ever transition from creative to account? Thinking that if I get laid off I might go after those roles too. How’d you get them to give you a shot?
So, just what did Nick Emery do to get fired? ‘Prank gone wrong on zoom’ is all I’m hearing
Any avid cyclers on here ? Been looking for a bike for awhile but it’s been extremely tough due to Covid. Low supply. Any recs ? Thinking gravel/CX - need 56cm.
Im weighing two options with former managers that I worked with. Option 1: $114k (paycut from current salary); manager role overseeing a team of 7; great manager and work life balance /// option 2: $150k + bonus ; director role working with market leadership team so lots of visibility and if I do well can grow into more things. Work life balance should not be more than 50-60 hours a week but it was with a former micromanaging boss. I also have a toddler with most of the responsibilities
Is anyone else getting depressed from everything going on? I’ve barely done anything all day except read coronavirus articles and now I just want to take a nap and not wake up until this is over
Partners. Were there stages in your career (Analyst, Consultant, Manager, etc) where you felt things weren’t clicking and that maybe consulting wasn’t for you? What did you do to get over the hump and still find a way to Partner? To be specific, I’m currently a C looking to make manager in a year, and there are manager level responsibilities that I’m struggling to execute proficiently (e.g., asking the right questions to the client, driving work with little guidance, etc)
PwC SDC Bangalore HRs are verbally promising permanent work From Home/Anywhere. Do you think it's going to be like that or they will call to office in coming months ? It's just a trick to attract candidates.
How many rounds of interview does Oliver Wyman takes before making a decision for experienced hire. I’m already down 6rounds and from last two I’ve been told by the recruiter that the next one will be last. PS: ready to go through 10round of interviews but need to understand the process and why after each round one more and one more…..
Where’s the DPW bonus newssss
26M making $155k base and about $185k TC at a large payments firm (Visa, MC, AmEx). I’m also 1 year away from promo which will probably get me to $210-220k TC. Do you think I still need an MBA? A lot of senior leaders in my team have 1 so I’m really not sure at this point. The opportunity costs are high, but I’m well aware of the long term benefits. I’ve also already taken the GMAT and gotten a 740. I’m an Asian male and find the hurdles that we go through for admissions a turn off as well.
Hi 🐠, have a trip coming up that I could use some advice for. Have to book a non-refundable economy trip to Osaka, can fly from Philadelphia or New York. United 1k with lots of GPU/miles (continued)
If I take a job at Amazon in India, is it considered as prestigious to FAANG companies as Amazon in Silicon Valley?
I am on L1B visa currently. I was promoted to a manager position and hence employer filed for my L1A amendment + extension petition which was denied by USCIS. Reason still unknown. Can the lawyers file for an L1B based extension now?
How technical do you need to be to exit to FAANG? Like do I need advanced programming/config knowledge, or are their positions related to cloud strategy?
Who is hiring right now? Looking to make a jump at consultant / associate level. Currently in the middle of my MBA program.
Should I open an IRA Roth account? Need suggestion on better allocation. Im mid 20s, making 80K pre-tax. My allocation is as followed: 1) 401k account has only $21K. 5% in Roth and 3% in pre-tax, no IRA account yet. My company matches 100% up til 3%, and 50% til 5%. 2) 85K in stocks, including both base and profits 3) 50K in real estate 4) 25K emergency funds. No debt. Should I open an IRA roth account and max it out? Not sure what my goal is. Im 40% high risk high reward, 60% stability.
What are some things to consider/ask when deciding between an internal audit manager role at a Fortune 500 company vs. a mid-cap. The mid-cap has same salary with 7-15% higher bonus dependent on performance. I’m somewhat stuck on whether the prestige / growth opps At the Fortune 500 are enough to outweigh the comp difference.
My husband and I have a huge combined family. They are also...well...loud. By loud I mean, laughing, debating, talking, all in good cheer. But sometimes arguments can erupt, and there's really no shortage of entertainment and sometimes drama. We're having a smaller gathering this year and wondering what's the best way to navigate all things COVID and health - we love to be close, hug, etc but I know everyone has different comfort levels and I want to be gracious and appease. What's your expert opinion? #QA
