So I really like Wayfare tavern, it’s a bit more on the casual side but the food is good and the atmosphere is boisterous but classy. It’s tavern style though.
Trestle is supposed to be good. I’ve taken clients to Epic and Waterbar. The food wasn’t amazing but being on the waterfront with views of the Bay Bridge is always nice.
We usually stayed somewhere close to Embarcadero or the financial district simply because we had people driving in from the east bay and it was easier for them to hop back on 80.
But if that’s not a constraint for you it opens up a lot of other options like Gary Danko and Nopa.
What area are you looking in?
Mathilde, Wayfare Tavern and Leo’s are pretty close.
Mathilde is where I go for my birthday. Waitstaff is from France, cute covered patio, it’s that fun Paris bistro feel. Parking is a bit sketch but plentiful because it’s mostly warehouses.
Leo’s is not a place I’ve been but my clients have had rave reviews. It’s right next to Wayfare. Lots of cabs. Street parking is a nightmare.
Mr Jiu’s if people are adventurous. Kokkari is amazing and may have a private room. Cotogna and Perbacco are Italian mainstays.
