McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

I voluntarily came to the office on a Monday morning today. If you told me that’d be the case a year ago I’d call you insane
Remember many people would love to have the opportunity to work a high paid job from home. Mix what you like to do at home on weekends into your weekdays to make it more enjoyable.

Dude ! I travel once every 2 months... the whole team is on the opposite coast! Taking calls at 7 am and working alone is making me nuts!
Mine is less boredom but feeling disconnected from my practice and the company.
How can one find these remote projects?
Lol taking a call at 7am shouldn't be getting to you. Try 5am calls in AZ while your client is in NYC
Workout during the day. Walk around the house. Download Skype/outlook for your phone so you won't be stuck to your laptop. Take naps. Netflix it up. Sing/play an instrument. Never wear pants. I've been traveling for the past few months and I h8 it. Wanna go back to my remote life when I could hang out with friends any day of the week and go shopping and just live. *Deep sighing*

Just finished an 8 month gig and already miss it... enjoy your time and focus on your health i.e. workout every day, cook healthy, get 10,000 steps. Skype mobile is key. Do this and by the time your remote role is over, you’ll be so happy you focused on this stuff!
I’m kind of in the same boat. I wake up at 8 and stay busy work work until 6-7 sometimes. I started to feel depressed and detached from a lot of things. I started to take small breaks every so hour to do things that recharge me such as small karaoke sessions or playing the violin.
Same. I’m headed to Tryst in Adams Morgan now. See you there
Take naps
Go out for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon coffee. Get involved in something in your local community. Start a new hobby
Working from home, an introvert’s dream!
Same! Thoughts?
A2 right there with you. I don't feel like a part of the company or project when I work from home!
Do you have capacity to take on a bit of additional BD work? If so, you could launch an internal initiative that forces you to interact/network with a different service line in the office. For example, building out a go-to-market strategy around/with a specific industry group that is underdeveloped in that region.
Just an idea, but any initiative that can facilitate f2f interaction with members of your firm, and make you their go-to person, might make the time WFH a bit more bearable ....
@PwC1 feel your pain. 5:30am calls everyday!
@A1 the last sentence, I read “start a new BABY” thought it might be a good idea. jk...
