God, that’s rough. The best advice I can give you is, if you love it, keep trying and applying and trust that this experience will be valuable.
I guarantee that if you keep applying, you’ll make it somewhere else good. Reach out to people. Make a side project. Get inventive. You’re young. You’ll get back to it with an even deeper appreciation and more grit than your peers.
But I can also guarantee this industry isn’t getting better, so this may not be your last layoff, your last banner assignment or the last boss you dislike. So personally, I’d keep an open mind. There’s every chance that you could find success with another endeavor or non-agency role. You’re young. You’re growing. Our industry may not be.
I’m sorry this happened.

Keep your chin up - opportunities leave but others will arrive - bide your time, apply for jobs, keep an ear to the ground and stay friends with your old boss, but don't get too down on yourself. There's an ebb and flow to this industry, so keep ebbing until it flows again
(2/2) my old manager and i are super close and she would rehire in a heartbeat if she had the power. it makes me so depressed hearing what cool projects i could have been working on. i miss being excited for work and having a manager that actually cares and trusts me. i feel so unfulfilled and unhappy at my current job. i’m super grateful to even have a job but this job/agency just isn’t for me. i would quit months ago if i could afford to. i graduated last summer so i’m pretty early in my career but i still feel like crap and that it’s not going to get better. i don’t know it’s the current state of the job market or maybe it’s me but i’ve been having so much trouble finding a new job. so sorry this is so long just wanted to rant because i have no one to talk to about this lol. if anyone has all words of wisdom or advice i would really appreciate it. thanks
I’m in the same situation. After working at a great general market agency, I got laid off and ended up at a pretty uninspiring pharma agency because it was the first job that came up. I’m struggling with the environment and the corporate culture. I’ve had a few interviews with better agencies, but nothing has materialized so far. Hang in there. Patience is a virtue (even though we both cry every day).
The job market is really tough right now. I think you were very very lucky as a junior to be working on such high profile projects from the jump. That is not the norm. Usually you start working on social posts and banner ads and work your way up. I’d be careful not to let your feelings about your unhappiness show to your coworkers or managers, because you may appear entitled. Instead, look at your current agency as an opportunity to prove yourself. Nail the banner ads. Bring proactive work to your CDs. Raise your hand with resourcing to work on pitches or anything else they need. Earn a reputation there and the work will come. Either there or elsewhere. The agency world is a small one.
I’m in exactly the same situation, except I’m a junior copywriter. Every Instagram story I see from my ex-colleagues working on cool projects makes me depressed. There’s so few great agencies and so much competition. Really questioning another career
