Iāve been with Slalomās analytics team for a while and have loved it. However, each market ranges in maturity of their advanced analytics offerings - some offices are much further along than others.
Structure is fairly flat, but if youāre a high performer and take an interest in doing more than just your 40h of billable client work, moving up isnāt hard.
Work/life balance has been great. Projects have been pretty interesting. Slalom has a somewhat warranted staff aug reputation, but there are many who are trying to fix that with larger projects.
Iāve also had excellent support from management here. Easily the best place Iāve worked
Pretty awesome work at select clients and some of the usual predictive modeling work at uninspired clients. Weāve informed things like org structure, product pricing, supply configuration, web content, consumer preference, behavior analysis, etc. using fairly complex logic before a visualization layer presents a friendly interface for users.
Hierarchy is not really a hierarchy. The quora post above shows this well.
A consultant can be as junior or senior as they can be. Principals run groups and sell, client roles manage clients, market roles manage markets. It really is that simple, and your experience can make you āhop from bubble to bubbleā rather than āclimb a ladder.ā
Super entrepreneurial and growing explosively with high client survey scores. Great place to be, not letting go!
Same question, got contacted recently. How do they pay compared to B4 and what's the hierarchy and work. Recruiter seemed to think my salary demand was kinda high, currently data scientist/Sr associate at KPMG.
I tried finding online, but couldn't find much about their progression, or the kind of work in data science they do. Local consulting could result in a more BI focus if they just don't have a lot of pure ML work in a city.
In terms of career progression they were fairly evasive when I chatted with them a few years back. The gist was that the organization was fairly flat and there weren't defined paths like Big4. This may have changed over time?
K1- what was your salary demand and for what city?
Heard good things about their work culture. But, they pay too little to attract any good talent!
That thing about pay, they pay low which doesn't work in data science plus their raises and bonuses are lower. And their projects seem to be behind Deloitte A&C and KPMG Lighthouse, I had a fairly detailed discussion and without meaning any disrespect they seem a year behind us at Lighthouse in terms of projects and predictive capabilities at least in the city I talked to. Other offices may rival D or K though as Slalom is a bunch of city islands essentially.
