So, I’m interviewing for a position that fits perfectly, HR likes my profile, had great conversations with them. Today I had a Panel interview with HR and the hiring manager. The manager is not experienced, it’s her first r manager role and she’s been in it for 3 months. I was prepared but was out of breath the entire interview, had a knot in my throat, had trouble finding my words. It’s like I had PTSD when this manager came into the picture. Ever had that?

Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. Wondering to get some advice on how hard it would be or get an understanding of the market to get back into private accounting/advisory or financial analyst after stepping away for 2.5 years. I was in public accounting for almost 5 years prior and stepped away as a supervising senior in audit for a mid tier firm. Would love to get a chance to connect/network with some people.

Currently live in NYC and I absolutely hate it as I love mountains and playing outdoors. I can either relocate now and have a stagnant but decent career that will allow me to enjoy my life. Yet, I also have ambition to climb up this corporate ladder in NYC and grind out here and hope to retire sooner and live wherever I want hopefully in 15 years or so and meantime travel occasionally to enjoy those things. Please share your wisdom. I need some advice. My LOS is pretty much exclusively NYC.

Interview tomorrow for a tax associate opening at RSM. Been working in a mid-size city (different firm) that is about 70 minutes from this new home office in a larger metro. How flexible is WFH or dual model going forward post Covid? Am interested in this position and going to tax, but not be able to relocate for family reasons.
