Amex point redemption sucks

like

I built a spreadsheet of point to dollar value for redemptions. Home Depot is actually the best

like

It'd be kinda hard to do it anonymously...

like

They were only coupons, not true gift cards. So you couldn't double them up anyway

Better conversion ratio than linking your Amex to your airbnb account though. Oh well...

That's the worst redemption option ever

I'm going somewhere remote with no hotels nearby, so it's the best option for me

Lol you should make a blog with that kind of analysis

@D2 can you share? :)

What is a good credit card to get for travel?

Making a lot of money relative to the average but feeling poor? Median after-tax income was ~$55,000 in 1981 and was ~$73,000 in 2020. Using a Bank of Canada inflation calculator $55,000 in 1981 is equivalent to ~$165,000 today, which would put someone in the top 10% of earners today. But in 1981 the median family had that extra money. Who can I blame?

What is a simple way to explain to my boyfriend that investing in equity with an expected return of 10% is better than paying off debt that is growing at a rate of 6%. He has student loans and is adamant that he wants to pay all of them off immediately before saving any retirement money. I understand that many individuals use this strategy but I think investing in index funds for the long haul is better from a wealth accumulation perspective, without even factoring in tax implications of 401k
