I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Just adding insult to injury when it comes to job hunting right now. I’ve been using Indeed or the like to find jobs, going to actual company sites to double check if they are even listed there, has helped cut down, but still a lot of extra steps we shouldn’t have to take.
Yes, fake jobs and jobs listed as remote that aren't. I just went through and saw 3 jobs I was interested in. The listing said remote, but the company website's say "position is on site". I think Glassdoor and Indeed are either adding "remote" to the listings or the companies are re-running existing job postings without reading them first. Many seem to be from back in the Covid remote days. We all know most companies have reeled-in remote work, so be sure to check the company website before applying. That way you can ensure the job is legit and truly remote if that's what you're looking for.
I tried referring a friend the other day and I could see it was internal only, but of course they don’t say that externally. Why even post it in that case smh
I saw an ad a while back that sounded promising. Spoke on the phone for 20 mins to the hirer named in the ad, Came away feeling a stronger sense of promise. Hurry, she said. We're closing tomorrow.
Applied.
Waited.
Nothing.
Called her up: "Actually, we're looking for someone with more experience in [specific area in which I'm well experienced]. Sorry."
Following week, near identical ad reappeared, with two key changes:
1. "Previous applicants are invited to reapply."
2. The pay range had dropped by $10K.
