I personally wouldn't risk your career over a few days abroad. You never know what they'll take against you to fire you
Dont ask just do it lol
Only if they cant find out
Get ur coach and emgagement managers on board and boooommmm
The big issue is tax and depending on where you are and what you are working on you could trigger tax issues for both yourself and the firm. A few days is highly unlikely to trip anything but I would still ask first.
I wouldn’t risk going against policy specially with lay offs.
Chief
Over the years I worked a few days here and there from other countries. Never any issues.
I’ve done it and multiple members of our team (in global mobility) have done it often. I know some offices are cracking down on it (if you’re going out of the country on vacation you have to not be working), but mine ironically never said anything and people would be gone for weeks visiting family, “WFH” in that country for about a week or two and then take their week or two vacation time.
Are you officially going on vacation and are just planning to do some work as well? Then, certainly no issues if it's only a couple days. Or are you officially working and just going out of country? That's a different thing, I would say, since everyone would actually expect you to be 'in town'. Just like if we were all back in the office in normal times. In this case you should at least coordinate that with your team(s).
Bait post, this is a trap.
Just refer to the recent DNA and follow the process for this. Depending on your engagement you could be jeopardizing client data and creating tax implications.
You will get fired.
