I was promoted to the chair of my dept. (first woman woo hoo.) Here is the issue- I can’t do it all. I’ve always done a lot of marketing. Billed the most. People still expect that from me but I can’t. So now I’m trying to figure out what I can get relief with but I’m not sure what would give me the most relief. Any tips on how to find this balance? I have files clients won’t let me give up. I’ve give up the others already and am taking on very limited new cases going forward.
I work in tech but am avidly watching Industry season 2. Curious for takes from people who live this. Does the show resonate? Is it talked about the way Silicon Valley was endlessly at tech companies during its run?
Hi! Sharing here, love to connect:
I tried so hard to get referrals from ME consultants, here and on LinkedIn. Everyone just ignores, don’t even ask for resume, very strange. I applied to MBBs anyway and heard back. So if you also find it hard to get referrals, just go for it :)
I have 5 years of experience in embedded field. I am getting calls for interview and they ask me about my expectation of package. What should i tell them. A 5 years of experience in embedded field deserves how much package in current market scenario?

Our company has been doing fully remote since 2020. We previously decided this was fair since most of us decided we wouldn't risk coming into the office. For two years this has worked well enough for everyone involved. Now, a new team was hired for fully remote positions while the ones who live near the office have to come work in person. Anyone else?
Is anyone in the group in the field of I/O psychology? I’m interested in getting my Masters in I/O but would like to know more about the day to day as an I/O Psychologist.
I would also like to know, what are the best programs and are there any certifications that heighten your knowledge or make you a more competitive I/O Psychologist?
As someone with ~1 year of experience and who’s looking to relocate to another city on the east coast, can I reasonably request relocation assistance upon getting an offer?
Do you like your life? I like mine
I am in TAC for a fairly large networking company. I am making 48k a year with decent benefits and unlimited PTO. I love working at this company and my boss is fantastic. However, I feel as though I am being underpaid given my credentials. I have my CCNA and almost have my CWNA. I am coming up on a year at the company and want to start either negotiating higher pay or looking elsewhere. What should I do and how should I go about it?
Thinking of making a pivot from brand management to product management. Does anybody have any tips or recommendations?

Do any of you have side-jobs or maybe hobbies that you make money from? Alternatively, what do you think sounds like a good one to look into?
Any jobs out there that don’t require independent / analytical thinking? Really burnt out from thinking and would love to switch to a more routine position. Yes this is partly imposter syndrome talking.
Moderately jealous of all these new first year lawyers posting their swearing in ceremonies with judges they clerked or interned with. I got sworn in by our paralegal wearing at the coffee station because my partner scheduled a CLE I needed to assist with during the ceremonial event. Womp.
Trying to make the move to in house but most of my career has been litigation in various areas of law. I am trying to pick up some transactional work to get more experience. I am a quick learner and have no doubt I can move into more in house areas but it’s so hard to even get an interview to explain. Very few entry level jobs when I graduated and now can only get jobs in the stuff I don’t want to do anymore.
Tips for becoming more independent as you progress from junior to midlevel? I am starting to be put into the position of just having to handle things including drafting and could use some advice from others.
I’m an associate at a boutique firm making under market with 1950 hours req. While I absolutely love the people I work with, and I can handle the hour requirement, the work I actually do is just not my cup of tea (abt 80% insurance defense). I’m hoping to lateral to a bigger firm with lockstep or close to lockstep comp and generally more resources/better mentorship opportunities in the business lit./commercial lit. space. Any tips for going about successfully making the switch?
Curious to know what other firm's bonus structures are, particularly those with 1900 billable requirement and below. Trying to figure out if my firm's structure is the norm or if the associates are getting screwed.
Hello! I just accepted a position in Pensacola, Florida. I'd appreciate any insight about the town, housing, vibe, etc. If you guys could share pros and cons please. TiA!
Just verbally accepted an offer to become the newest partner at a much bigger firm in town after 5+ years slaving for a smaller firm that told me they would only “let” me be of counsel (and pay rent equal to my current salary) or stay an associate. So long, late nights with no bonuses! Adios, screaming phone calls out of the blue! WOOOOO!!!!!!!!
HELP! I’ve been contacted by a small private security firm who wants me to be their “on call” counsel. They describe it as a lot of contract review, drafting NDAs, etc. but also being there if/when they need to license a vehicle, defend civil suit, etc. It’s overwhelming but sounds like a really great opportunity. I have enough background to be comfortable with contracts and litigation, but don’t want to get myself into a mess. Has anybody else ever had a job like this?
What are some alternative jobs for JDs/lawyers? Editorial stuff? We know how to write. Idk (other than teaching and politics)
Any tips on leaving a firm “correctly”? Was about to go “of counsel” with my firm of 6 years, but then another firm whose partners I really respect (and personally like) offered me a partnership position. I predict my current bosses will *flip* (cut off file access immediately, try to beat me to calling my clients, etc.), so how do I set myself up for a successful transition?
Happy Be Kind to Lawyers Day!
Any recommendations on relocating to Hawaii? I am registered for the Hawaii bar but currently based out of Los Angeles and practicing in California as a licensed attorney.
I have created a bowl for those who want to know more about their potential new firm - ask anonymously and hopefully someone within the firm will respond! Or we can help find the right person for you! Bowl name is biglaw offer - see you there!
