Anyone have any experience working in Weaver’s forensics practice?

I’ve been networking with KPMG forensics and basically was told there isn’t a need at the moment, so I started applying at EY and Weaver (2 days ago). Weaver already called, did phone interview, and moving me to interview with managers and partners. I normally am a very loyal employee and don’t like changing employers, but really wanting to make a move to forensics and not willing to wait for a “maybe.”

It has been almost 2 weeks since I joined KPMG Global Services, but I have not been assigned any project yet. They are telling again there will be client interviews. What the hell is this? I mean I just cracked the interview to join KGS. And now again why do I need to attend interview? What happens if someone cannot crack client interview?will he not get project and will be asked to leave?

Anyone have a smart scale they like? I just got this Withings scale and it is all over the place with the body fat measurements. A good 8 points higher than the inbody at my gym. And also just swings like 3-4 points on its own. I’m fine if it’s off, but I want it to be consistent with itself so I can check my progress.

Anyone feel like your job sees you as "one of the good ones?" It hasn't explicitly been said, but I'm one of the only Black attorneys at the firm and I think my white colleagues and partners see me as an example of how Black folks "should be" cause I mind my business. Currently 25 y/o making 70k/year in Boston. I grew up pretty poor and I have minimal financial education. A lot of my salary now goes towards helping my parents get out of debt. My parents are no longer able to live on their own, so considering selling my grandmas house where they live (maybe 550k), paying off their mortgage (100k) and buying a duplex (between them they make about 55k/year). Is buying a two family home a good investment ? How much can I afford to spend on a new house?

Considering going for the CFE. What was your study plan for it and how long did it take?

For the CFE, did you do anything in addition to the ACFE prep course? The course is just practice questions, so I’m wondering where I can actually learn the information first before that.

Genuine question: why does EY forensics pay so much less (25-35%) than everyone else? At least for associate - manager? And knowing that, why do people stay? Does EY have significantly better culture or work-life-balance than other firms or something?
