I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
Hello All, I have been selected in the interview at NTT DATA and also submitted documents as requested by Recruiting HR. However , it's been a 10 days after docs submission but haven't received any call from HR for salary negotiation. On email follow up with HR, he said he is on it and will come back to me soon for further process. Any views.NTT DATA

Tech is different in that the "product" is often code or design, so if you're trying to equate it to banking those teams are your FO. The rest of the employees are support for the company, but the structures are so flat and lean that you often have way more direct exposure to leadership and lots of ownership in the non-tech roles.
I wouldn't call banking finance folks "back office" unless they run the books for the BO- most of the CFO-org people in banking run right along-side the execs they support. As for Google/tech in general, many companies historically have held engineers above all else- but that's changing as they become more corporate. I can tell you I'm in the Finance org and we sit the closest to the C-Suite offices.
I know someone who works in that space. He seems to be a fan, but has said that all of those roles are in SF.
Is google ventures still around? Prob want to look there
Thanks! Any indication from him on rank and fit within the firm? Tough to tell whether it is considered backoffice similar to finance roles at banks...
@GS1 they've rebranded as GV I believe. I've always gotten the sense that if you're not an engineer at Google, you're viewed as a pleb
