Need some real, tangible advice I can give. My BIL is in sales, sister is a teacher. They have 2 kids. He sells RVs, business was great in pandemic but has been terrible this year. He has secretly been using up all his savings to get by & only tells my sis NOW that he can’t pay the Oct mortgage w/o taking out a 401k loan. Business will NOT be getting better any time soon, but he is a prideful man and will refuse to work any blue collar job or anything he feels is “beneath him”, cont in comments.
Stay in healthcare. Have you not seen the blood bath in FS? You can take the CFA, or just get a an Associate job in the healthcare group of a bank ( think banking or equity research). However these jobs are very hard to get, so good luck!
Your easiest bet would be to request a move to Accenture's FS practice. Do a couple of projects, see what it's like.
Try the capital markets group at Accenture. Their projects are the most relevant.
It's known as "switching Operating Units". Communicate it to your manager and see if they are able to help or find the right resources to do so
If not, network your way to gain contacts in FS for staffing there & it'll be easy then
I appreciate all the answers. A1 thank you. That's exactly what I was looking for. A2, yeah I know it's not an easy shift, but I figure it's worth an effort. Especially if it means building a specialty in something I don't want a future in, it's almost like I'm wasting my time now
True. Just to clarify, I do mean staying at Accenture, just trying to gain some experience for a potential future when I leave consulting to go in the financial sector vs the health care one
I'm trying to switch from resources to healthcare, so far it hasn't been easy.
Exactly how I feel. I'm a senior analyst getting a promotion to consultant this coming December, so I want to officially make the switch as I get the promotion - especially since we're supposed to be specializing in something by now.
I hear ya. I've heard the best time to make the switch is during promotion time. I'd even be willing to relocate if it meant changing industries.
I know this because I'm in the same boat as well. Trying to move from FS to Products. Also up for promo to Consultant
