Absolutely and we have to spend 13 hours with them 🤣
Yes. I have found limit setting helpful with those that feel agressive/demanding/ drug seeking. Once they realize you are not going to be the one to give in, they tend to move on. Needy hand & hand holding time sucking patients: big breath. Smile, 😊 they are going to leave the office shortly. Limit to the top 3-5 pressing issues today. Reschedule in few weeks for the rest, have a nurse timed to knock in say 15 minutes that you have a phone call and have to go. Repeat knock if you are not out in 30 seconds. ,
Yes, I have actually asked if a few people could be reassigned to another PA, and manager thought that wasn't a bad idea as I apparently have a very bad poker face.
I think dreading is a bit of a strong word. I wouldn't say I'm necessarily scared or anxious about seeing certain patients, but I certainly don't enjoy all my interactions. Some people are truly miserable and they want others to feel the same way as them, those are the ones I dislike.
I have a least 1-2 of these patients the days I am working. We have Athena for EHR, so I sent a message to the MAs to get me out of the room, They’lI say I have another doctor on the phone who must speak with me. Works every time.
