Best Chicago SPG hotel? Anyone tried the Gwen?
Sounds like you aren't focused on earning points, but big thing with Residence Inn and Town Place Suites is that you earn half as many points as all other properties. Courtyard, Fairfield, and Spring Hill Suites are on the lower end, safe bet is to go for whichever is newest/most recently renovated. JW Marriotts are generally the best (without getting into the Ritz and Edition properties), followed by Renaissance, then generic Marriotts and Autograph. Since Autographs were former independent hotels, quality can vary a lot by property, but they can be quirkier. https://skift.com/2016/09/21/every-one-of-marriotts-30-hotel-brands-explained/

Anyone moved from Consulting to FAANG? What are the pros and cons?
Might get an offer at Google for Program Manager role (non-tech). Not sure if I should take it up as I have an analytics background and want to be involved in tech side of things.
But I am tired of long hours (60-70hrs a week) in my current team and dont want to continue down the path as its not sustainable in long term.

By the way, if you have Marriott or SPG Platinum, Hilton will give you Diamond Status (highest) for a year. That's an amazing deal. Email Hilton Honors with screenshot of your M/S status. They will only match the status for Platinum members. I had this done for myself and several other colleagues. There are so many great Hilton properties especially overseas.
It's not worth it anymore especially since Marriott has bought SPG. I'd make all my reservation at Marriott. I've been lifetime Platinum at both SPG and Marriott and used Ambassador service quite often and there is more than a good chance that the new combined Marriott SPG program will adopt this for their most loyal customers. I just don't want to hedge any points with SPG especially if they are going to be absorbed into Marriott program.
Love my Ambassador! Always been happy with Hilton too.
Why would you need that when ZS doesn't travel?
I'm 100% travel at ZS which is definitely different for the company. But yeah, I have platinum from last year with SPG. And I also matched it with Hyatt and Hilton diamond so just trying to pick which ones I want to keep
Hyatt...haha 😂
My ambassador is really nice but only works between 10am and 2 pm every Monday and Wednesday only so I hardly use her.
Not really. But when you go to a hotel that isn't your main 'home', you get welcome gifts - usually booze or cheese plates
Mine sent me a birthday present and automatically signs me up for the quarterly promotions. She also helped with a situation where I was quoted a different rate on the phone than what ended up on my invoice.
The ambassador can be useful at times... I've managed to score booze for personal travel like birthdays and anniversaries
100% varies by ambassador. I've been lucky to have an amazing one since the pilot program that makes sure hotels know how I want my room to be: 68 degrees, remote by the nightstand closest to wall, new shower curtains, cokes and candy bars, etc... But some friends have had ambassadors who wouldn't even change a reservation for them.
My ambassador is useless! Whenever I call I pray she doesn't answer so I can talk to someone else
I email my ambassador and she's great! Helps me book recurring travel for work and redeem nights at best rates for personal travel
Loved my ambassador! Was totally worth it
