I am terribly underpaid in my current org at 5.5 LPA after a recent promotion and annual appraisal. Another mid size consulting firm offered me 7.5 LPA but I am asking them around 9 LPA.
Am I asking too much or shall I take the offer of 7.5 LPA

I’m maxing out my 401K, traditional IRA and HSA this year and paying for some house improvements. I have about $750K total investments and very close to $2M net worth, but realize that I am behind on investments if I want to do FIRE. I was focused on paying off huge chunks of my mortgage and managed to whittle it down to $75K left. Would you suggest I go ahead and pay that off this year? I was once at a dinner with a second year analyst, consultant, and partner, and the analyst said he planned on retiring by 30 and the partner and consultant laughed. Little did they know, the analyst owned his own home and rented all the rooms out so he payed no rent, never ate out, only grocery shopped, and very very rarely bought anything new. He saved most of his income, and was perfectly content with just his video games. That man was serious about not being stuck working forever.

Supply chain issues are still a problem. And Fisher and VWR (Avantor) are as greedy as ever. I’m considering looking into starting or investing into a U.S. manufacturing based lab supply company. Thoughts? Anyone work for these companies that can discuss logistics and potential challenges?

As of late, my work related anxiety has reached new levels and it’s really starting to affect me mentally. I’m part of a great team; I’m trusted and supported, have a great track record, there are no issues, and have been no incidents. Regardless, my professional self perception and confidence is so rattled as of late, it’s almost like a paralysis at times. I am in a bit of a good/bad spot. I have worked at Salesforce for close to a year as a consultant. They want to bring back travel to 50%+ post Covid and I am not feeling that motivated to be away from my family that often. I have an opportunity to join a startup as a Sr. PM likely making the same or a tiny bit less. But no travel and not consulting. All internal project. I don’t know what else I should be looking at. I am asking here cause you guys are all smarter than my childhood friends…

For questions as to why you are looking to leave your current firm.. I am looking to move because for some reason I am hand-held a lot and given simpler tasks, so I am getting bored and want more challenging / much more fast paced environment. Also kind of bored because I am on one project for a long time and I want exposure to variety of projects. Is this a fair answer or would I be seen as arrogant? Is there a better way to frame my answer?

Asked about it and the hiring team person who reached out to me refused to share info, saying that a recruiter will share this info later in the process. LOL. If you decide to move down a level in your next role, for learning purposes and for more wlb, is that frowned upon by future employers and looks bad on your resume? I've been think about it but haven't pulled the trigger. Also fear that getting a lower level job will be tough if they see me as 'over-qualified'.
