Anyone in DT think that the utilization reports with everyone's name they send to all seniors and above is just a obnoxious shaming tactic ?

I think that's the point. Practice management sees utilization as the main lever to revenue, so they are hyper focused on keeping that number up up up. Meanwhile, project managers are incentivized to maximize project profitability, so they try to push down on billed hours and cannot be relied on to notice or manage low staff utilization. Really the report should just go to practice leadership and they would pressure the appropriate managers, but instead they decided to just blast everyone...

Are you talking about the availability reports?

All I'm getting from it is that people are going to pad their hours in the eternal quest for chargeability so as not to be a "low performer"on that stupid rpm model

like

That's exactly the point. I know the people with the most hours available are the people I don't want to staff on one of my jobs

like

Nope it lets directors and managers know who lied about availability(not the staff per se but managers claiming them) so we can call bullshit on serial offenders.

It really depends on the user ... Some people uses information much better than others

Now my standard util is 40 and my adjusted is 105... and this project last in another month... by then my standard util might be 20.. will my promotion be affected by this? My target promotion year on TOD is 2022. My manager said we might sell to client and extend this project in September but nothing guaranteed.

I have a Deloitte PDM offer. I’ve read about the positives/negatives and I’m so torn. When my recruiter says I’ll have “144 hours” of PTO (18 days), will I definitely still run into the utilization trap of not being able to take it? Are all projects 40-42 hr weekly caps? Third question: I’m new in the DC area, are PDMs invited to firm socials? Trying to make friends! Thanks in advance

Just finishing my first week in as an audit intern and genuinely I have no idea what I'm doing or even a general idea of the audit process. The senior associate left the engagement last week so it's just me and an associate, and they don't have time to give me instruction.

Am I stupid or did the e-learns not prepare me for any of this? The training told me I'd be auditing cash but I haven't even touched a bank reconciliation.
