Larsen & Toubro Infotech Can someone decline from joining the org on the joining date? I am expecting a counter offer with the same DOJ, but i wont be rejecting the current company i am joining, unless I see the offer from the countering org. Any suggestions on how to handle this situation? My second firm was a MUCH better fit for me. The main thing was that the second firm had a stronger practice group in the area I wanted to work in. But I also found the people and culture to be a better fit. I had assumed all firms were the same, but the type of people and the people you work with can make a huge difference.

I’ve left two jobs back to back for this and yes the third is a much better fit. It was a combination of both, but I’d say 70pct due to a partner who actually understood my capabilities and strangely cares about associate development. The small percentage of people that I know that stay in biglaw (maybe 2 out of 15 with most leaving after year 2) stayed because they legit enjoy the people they work with/for.
Left after a few years, switched firms and switched to a related but different practice group and it was night and day. Still here 5 years later and even happier now than when I started.
It was 3/4 people (better partner leadership) and 1/4 the type of work.

DEFINITELY the firm for me. No policy to cut my own hours (patent pros), incredibly thorough mentoring from partners, way more laid back than my first, fully remote, and more direct interactions with clients. The first dropped my salary by 1/3 for almost half a year for dropping my hours during a 6 week paternal leave, and that kind of put a sour taste in my mouth.
Where are you currently A2?
Left after the end of my second year. 2nd firm was a much better fit.
