Anyone negotiated 4-6 weeks off to study for the bar in another state? I passed the bar exam with only 3 weeks of study. But ideally, I would like a couple of weeks to recharge because I am already burned out. Also, my firm does not have an office in the state, but I can see them opening an office there in the future. Due to the lack of of attorneys at my firm that are licensed in the state, I would pitch it as being beneficial to the firm. Thoughts?

There’s a practice group that I’ve been trying to find work in but whenever I volunteer to help, I always get roped in to do non billable work. I’ve made it to the 3rd round interviewing at three different firms over the past month, and the feedback I’m getting has all been very similar: they think I’m really great, but it’s not the right time. Why spend 4-6 hours interviewing me just to say there isn’t actually a current role for me?
