Joining FAANG in a few months as a Product marketing manager, potentially with a new product growth focus. Any ex-consulting PMM/PM with advice and tips on how to ramp-up skills/toolset fast? (e.g, books, podcasts, sites)
Trying to get a 45 y/o sibling in to consulting (was an entrepreneur prior in the restaurant industry). No college degree but willing to bust his but to learn. Books/online courses recommended pls
I am a strategy consulting enthusiast from a middle class family. Don't have the financial stability to take a loan for an MBA and hence had to drop some renouned admits this year ( Think top IIM's) due to family circumstances. I still dream big and request you to provide some insights for my research:-
1) Average expected package of an associate
2) Average experience expected at ZS to get hired at associate level
3) Good books to upskill and ace the consulting case interviews
Starting new SC M&A role after 3 YOE in ERP and tech consulting. I have 3 weeks to learn as much as I can so I don’t sound like an idiot on my first day. I bought some books, how would you prep?
Best books to read when starting your own business, but also embody imposter syndrome & validation issues. Anything from self-help, psychology & business is welcome. TY x
Hi, I am going through a few books on consulting and one thing which seems to be given a lot of importance is market sizing. What is the importance of this? It seems to me that unless it is a new product; existing competitors, long term contracts, monopolies etc would make this result unreliable at best and misleading. Can someone help me understand this?
New to Strategy Consulting in FS, any recommendations for success? Game plan, Mindset, Books, etc?
26 yrs old, been in consulting since finishing undergrad. Worried that I haven't narrowed my focus or found a niche to be specifically great at. Every project has been completely different... And I am constantly reading books to get smart on every other topic. My guess is this is all too common in consulting.
I am curious if this is feasible for a longterm career in consulting, especially if I am trying to continue climbing?
I once read a book called the Psychology of Everyday Things and fell in love with the concept of engineering design from a person-centered perspective.
Is this a part of what I/O psychologists do?
What books would you recommend for understanding human psychology / personalities? In a people oriented industry like consulting, I imagine it really helps understanding human behavior and building self awareness. For context, young person in consulting here.
Has anyone ever made the jump from consulting to being a full time creative?
Recently I've realized that consulting isn't what I wanna do, but more broadly idk if a 9-5 business job is for me either. I've always wanted to make films and write books but I rarely see anyone in our industry make this kind of jump. Also finances 🥴
Overall I'm just not sure if I can see myself doing this for the next 30 years
Books on human psychology that have affected you. I'll start: influence, sales Bible, on killing.
Any good books/learning materials on how consulting/non-product firms acquire other firms? Struggling to find relevant info. “Talent-based acquisitions” seem to be all about hr/recruiting. What are alternative keywords I should use?
I would like to ask for a few recommendations of books that is related to mental health or psychology
Anyone else read or hear about this book?
There are very few good books on consulting and IT services that I have seen . What should such a book cover for it to be useful to a large number of consultants ? Specific topics like how to grow a career , how to develop business etc OR a general purpose overview from all angles ?
I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.
What to do about a narcissistic stbx who’s trying to manipulate everyone and make your life miserable because you don’t want them anymore. When it was his fault why the marriage ended in the first place.
What does a Level 8 do in Accenture.
Is EY ending their WFH from January or they are extending it.
Can someone throw some light of working model of EY next year.
How to convince the next employer that we will join their company and not the one of which we have an in hand offer already
Just a thought, looking for input.
What good, and bad comes out of corporate lobbying in the US?
I've seen how it can shape some policies at a a federal level, but haven't done much research at the lower levels. All input is welcome. 🙂
I’m really bad at this: I just got a last min freelance request (from an agency I want to build a relationship with) - what’s a diplomatic way to say a rush fee needs to be applied?
Hello, All! I'm looking for recommendations on inspirational content for women leaders. I follow TEDWomen, many podcasts, and the Women's Conference among other sources. I'd love to hear a fresh perspective on business, trends, tech, marketing, equality in the workforce, etc. I'd love to learn something new. I'm at the VP level and have started a couple of companies, so nothing too junior, but open to many topics. Please share any speakers, books, webinars, or events that you may come across.

Have any respiratory therapists found jobs OTHER than being a clinical RT? I want to possibly change careers, but I am finding that a lot of jobs (clinical liason, utilization review, etc) want you to have a nursing degree, not a respiratory degree. I feel like as an RT we are limited to jobs.
Hi all!! Let’s talk retention and relocation bonuses: What would you deem an appropriate retention bonus (and payout terms) and appropriate relocation assistance bonus (and payout terms) for HOURLY team members? Thanks!!!
I was looking for a job referral in the field of etmf, pharmcovigillance or medical devices.

Doing my spring cleaning (finances). Live solo in NYC and spend bout 1.4k monthly for non-rent stuff (food, resto, groceries, misc). too much, or just average?
Does anyone else worry they are coming off as a b*tch to male subordinates when being direct with them? I know I shouldn’t worry about this because if I was a male.. it would never be interpreted that way. I don’t want to be viewed as bossy but I’m starting to lose patience after having to repeat the same thing several times.
FTI Transaction Advisory Services - how good is it? Thinking of making the jump there from big 4 audit. 2 years exp and CPA. Thinking it will be too hard and take too long to make the internal switch

Do y'all think being on the bench is under the control of a consultant? Is it leadership not selling enough or a reflection of your performance/skills?
Struggling to make sense of it.
Do FAANG lowball offers nowadays? Got an Amazon offer with 130k TC. I am making 180k TC now. The recruiter told me I should consider FAANG brand and career potential. I think Amazon already doesn't have great WLB, and it doesn't sound like they truly value me.
PwC people: the in lieu policy description is confusing. If I am going to a third location over the weekend, are JUST meals a taxable expense, or is everything (airfare, hotel) taxable.
Any cheap alternatives for COBRA in case of job loss?? Looking for something not so expensive till I can find a new job since my current coverage won't cover me starting next month
Got an offer for moving to a boutique and was excited until I got the benefit info. Currently at $140, DTO, 12 holidays, high chance of decent bonus. New role is $160k, 24 days PTO, 8 holidays, only utilization bonus but good size.
The change is PTO/holidays is a huge deal for me but not sure if the salary makes up for it. They aren't budging on anything which to me is not a good sign. Really torn on what to do
Wife is looking at offer from point b. Anyone have culture thoughts? What’s local model like? Do they reimburse miles/food for local clients?
Has anyone done a 2-hr roundtrip daily commute for years? Unfortunately in this situation due to location of spouse’s job -it’s fairly rural and that area doesn’t have the same level of education (kid is about to start K), diversity, convenience, jobs opps me, stuff to do or parks as our current city has. Switching jobs is not an option for him unfortunately. I do feel very guilty about the long commute for him though.
Is making SA just luck? This LA role is first non-executive role in 5 years and pays $40k less but I love the firm and have room to grow for once. 2 years in I'm not even close to SA. Am I a bad fit?
Have 2 offers. BCG SA for 130k base and Deloitte SC, base 160k in the S&A practice. Don't intend to stay in consulting more than 2 years. What do I choose? Money at D is making this difficult Boston Consulting Group Deloitte
How is the WLB at EY-Parthenon ? Currently at MBB and looking for a change of pace now with family and kids. Is EYP open to laterals from MBB? I’d be targeting the Director band most likely
Have a BCG project leader first coming up. What’s the male dress code for a zoom interview? Thinking just nice simple dress shirt. Feels weird dressing up any more for Zoom.

Yes, the firm I work for has many I/O psychologists. Most (not all) have PhDs. The others all have Masters.
Yes, it is a smaller boutique firm
Family friend does this for McKinsey and makes crazy money as an IC. he has a PhD, has written books, very well respected.
I have two friends with PhDs in the space and they are struggling to find anything to do outside of academia. I’m actually surprised vp up there has consultants working in the area, seems like a lot of voodoo hand wavy stuff that doesn’t really add any value.
Maybe my friends are just stupid but what exactly does the io psych part of the equation add?
Our firm works in the area of leadership consulting and we help organizations with their talent strategies- assessing for selection, potential, and reasoner for roles, helping develop leadership pipeline and so on. IO takes the business side to psychology. Very interesting stuff and we get wonderful engagements with our clients.
VP1 can you share how you got started in this line of consulting
