I failed to make partner in my first consulting firm, went into industry, got fired from my first job after 2 years, went through serious depression, almost lost my marriage after a brief affair, then was fired from my next job after 3 years, then returned to consulting! All areas of life are in good shape now after lots and lots and lots of hard work. #nevergiveup
OP, we are very much human and all of us have had challenges.
I jumped firms, had a kid, had a career crisis debating whether I should stay in consulting, went through a divorce and throughout all of my career fell on my face with clients and within the firm a fair number of times. It’s not about falling down, it’s about getting back up again, learning from your mistakes and moving forward.
Whatever it is you’re going through, have a pity party and feel sorry for yourself, but then brush it off and move on.
Yes, have been laid off twice, passed over for jobs and promotions more often than not.... wait a sec, this is getting depressing! But yes, if you keep fighting for it with an honest desire to improve, it will work out.
I’m just a lowly manager trying to make senior manager let alone partner. Despite being laid off several years ago, put on a PIP, and battling with anxiety, I’m still fighting the good fight. There are many aspects of consulting that I truly enjoy (e.g., building lasting relationships with clients). That’s why I’m still in this game. Thanks for everyone who responded!
Thank you OP for asking the question, M1, Pa1, Pr1 for your answers - was going through my own pity party with not hitting the expected mark this perf year I feel inspired and focused on the next step, I needed this!
I recently applied to Apple and haven’t had much luck with landing the position in retail. I normally go through the 3-4 interview process and they normally go with someone else. I have many years of experience in tech and leadership. Anyone have any advice on what to do next?

See Dominic Barton example. Go rejected from partnership twice
You are talking about being a Partner? Please read about Lincoln.
Mck1- what were the reasons for getting fired?
I had some challenges with over-committment early in my career but realized the damage I was doing to my reputation and the firm
Got rejected*
SVP1, could you please elaborate on that? What do you mean by commitment?
