Anyone willing to share tips on how to exit from MBB to VC? Is there a sweet spot for YOE in MBB to jump to VC? Also for context, I have 5 years prior experience with startups (pre-MBB) …. Kinda miss it and interested in jumping back from VC perspective

Idk but I’ve heard 2 years is ‘a’ sweet spot. 2 McK years=5 normal ones

Wish I could offer more but as you can see - I am not where you are 😁 I just see a lot of posts

Made the jump from t2 to VC in 2 years.

Would aim to focus on aiming for smaller funds that are just spinning up that can use senior associates (which is the typical post mba position)

C2, Can you please share what you know so far, if willing?
Your candidacy profile like academic background (bachelors, PhD, MD, MBA, etc.), consulting level/title, YOE, prior work type, or type of consulting projects you mainly worked on or that mattered to the VC(s)?
How you found the opportunity(ies)?
What the interview process was like? How to prep? Common pitfalls in your opinion? Any advice/lessons from it?
What you think was the tipping point in your process that got you the offer(s)?
What type of firm you’re joining (like team and AUM size, stage of investments like Series A or B or C, fund focus area like a specific therapeutic area or whatever)?
What level you’re coming in at? What the TC with breakdown ranges for the role you’re going in at us and perhaps the the roles you applied/interviewed for if you got far enough to learn that?
What trajectory you think you’ll be having or was told that you’d have at this firm?
How you believe this role and type of fund will impact your career goals (staying in VC here to partnership, jump to a different VC, move to PE, move to portfolio company, move to other industry role, etc.)?
What you think are the key good and bad differences between consulting and VC as far as you’ve observed throughout your journey to (soon) move to VC?

Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.

Can anyone that has worked in that position tell me what its like and what to expect? Is it more like an administrative position and boring or do you really get to help clients? All feedback is appreciated!

Friend of mine was supposed to receive an offer (told verbally) from Deloitte and then just found out they are pausing on hiring the role. How common is that? Seems wildly unprofessional that none of the partners called and instead it was the recruiter conveying that news. At McKinsey, if that happened, the head of the practice or the office would personally make the phone call at the very least.

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?
