Redact something you have written recently.
I had to do this for the last law firm that interviewed me. (A very long time ago.) it was for a senior associate role. I submitted a motion that was publicly filed, a copy of a deposition transcript, and an article I was actually in the process of writing that I got into submission form for the interview. For a role you’re describing, a memorandum on some issue of law in your specialty would really help if you have one. If you don’t, I’d redact one of your best memoranda. And also change it to make it better. The good thing is, they have no way of verifying it, as was my case with a publicly filed motion and a deposition transcript that would’ve taken a while to fake.
I don’t know if this was meant for me, but I’ll say one that went to a client. Changed as needed, but I’ll all but guarantee it is much better and will be easier to edit and make better than anything you did in law school. Except perhaps for a law review note if you did one and it got published. (Mine wasn’t published because the editor in chief didn’t like it and it was a bit ponderous—so I never submit that as a writing sample.)

you applied for a corporate/tax position
you are not an actor/actress
I do not agree with this. All the world’s a stage, / And the men and women merely players. In short, it is always important to play the part well. Especially in interviews.
If you’re ever worked on like a blog post for your firm that’s a good one. Probably you haven’t though if you’re asking. Or yes a formal memo you worked on at your firm sent to a client, etc
