Hello people, how common is a Amazon to PWC move ?
I’m interviewing for a Senior Associate role and TC seems to be more competitive than role in L5.
TC $114k- Base AMZ- $73k +$38kstocks ( vesting 17k$ due next year)
TC $135k Base PWC -$81$ + Bonuses ( 50k$)
Looking for managerial skills which the PWC role avails, and L6 promo doesn’t seem to be happening soon in current role. I’m also mentally stretched. I hear WLB in PWC is just as busy but can anyone confirm if this move makes any sense. Google Amazon

Very slim. You’re not a senior yet and even if you were a newly promoted senior, you’d still most likely get the bump down to staff 2.
My advice since it sounds like you are moving “up” to a B4 and to a senior role, if you are not ready to be a Senior, you’ll fail. Go in as a staff 2 with lower expectation of you.....blow everyone away and you’ll be promoted when ready. Seen too many “seniors” come in only to be overwhelmed and leave or get fired.
I was in the same position a few years back. I had a competing offer from another Big 4 as a Senior. Used that to get the Senior position at EY. Something on those lines can help. Clearly state your case with the recruiter, say you have 2 years experience etc., and propose that you would like to come in as a Senior. Appeal to them that they are on the top of your list blah blah and hope they can see your way. Good luck!
It’s not unfair. The new firm doesn’t know if you can even be a senior because you are still a staff/associate.
Deloitte 1 have you seen that happen before? That sounds really unfair. Is it still worth it to take the job then and essentially be held back a year if I really like the group? I’m almost positive I’d be promoted to senior if I stay at my current position
If you move right now, you’re are going to miss the year end discussions and you’re not getting promoted this year. Most experienced hires even with the right tenure get pushed back a year for this reason.
You should tell them that you’ll take the offer if it’s changed to Senior but it’s not really worth it for you to spend another year at Staff when you’ll be promoted to senior at your current job in a few months. Sure, promotions don’t officially kick in for another 5 months, but the annual evaluation period is essentially over - so for performance eval and promotion purposes, you’ve completed 2 years as a Staff.
OP, maybe I misread msg. Is your offer at B4, but your two busy seasons outside of B4? If so, what size firm are you currently with and what area of tax do you focus on (Private Client Services, federal for large businesses, specialty tax area)?
PwC requires 3 busy seasons before being promoted to senior, unless you are early promoted which is not common
