I hope Chicago doesn't get it. It's one our biggest accounts in Seattle and everyone hates working on it. Also, don't want my rent to go through the roof.
I'm hoping it goes to Austin so my property value will double over nightb

One of times' criteria is "a willingness to pay to play." For that reason I hope Boston stays out.
I agree with the benefits of bringing business in but it bothers me that a company with the amount of cash that Amazon has is asking for a handout just because they can. If I went to Denver with a business, I guarantee that no politician would even notice. Using tax dollars for something that will benefit Amazon shareholders more than the local economy is crazy to me
And where the best location to add value to their supply chain. Money will win the day and people will spin that their state has the best tech center for Amazon but in reality your state will be the one who gave away the most of your tax dollars to one of the most valuable companies in the world
I'm sure that Amazon has like a top 10 and whoever gives them the best deal out of those 10 will win
Atlanta is a top contender for sure.
RSM I think that the times article is very logical but it does not take in account the free stuff that Amazon will get from the state. I known that it sounds cynical but I think that money will be the final factor
State / City $ is the pay to play.
Not necessarily. The damn millenials would need to want to live there too. If you locate your second office in the middle of nowhere without any hip restaurants and things to do, who would want to live there?
To offer incentives to compete against other states is such a lose lose for the country. You know they need to go somewhere, take taxes out of the equation and make them pay their share.
Yeah I usually am pro business but not when it is only for the few big players. What would the ROI be to bring Amazon to your city vs the ROI of helping 100 small businesses
My wife and I are looking to move soon and we'd take this HQ into consideration among other things. She is in tech, and while not necessarily interested in working at Amazon, wherever their new HQ is will start or help sustain a tech hub.
^seems to be quite universal. All large accounting firms in Seattle have something with Amazon and all seem to not like it that much (except for the partners I guess).
Not Atlanta, we have enough growth and traffic, no more
Why is everyone talking about American cities? Amazon wants a presence in North America. I personally think Montreal and other Canadian cities stand a good chance too. It's getting harder for Amazon to get the foreign employees they need with the uncertainty surrounding H1B
Times says Denver
^its always a good question but there are certain advantages. First is amazon bring in money from the outside instead or recycling the same money inside the community. Second is 100 small businesses will pop up around Amazon as modern companies are known for outsourcing and plus they need supplies and all. But again, this is all a big question and corporate welfare seems to be acceptable in this country.
