Ignorant recruiter. Such disgusting manners. Do you have a phone # for the recruiter? E-mail is such an impersonal way to communicate and you have no way of knowing if she/he even saw the replies. Probably buried in a list of 102 e-mails received overnight, 80% of which are junk mail. If you have a phone #, try calling. If they don't like getting a phone request, tough. They advertised a job and you're trying to respond to their ad. If they've already interviewed and hired someone, they at least owe the rest of the applicants a "thanks but no thanks" letter. This recruiter is a useless tool. You should let someone at Biogen know how you were treated as an applicant.
I never said they should be "bypassed" - I said they should have some rudimentary communication manners. I don't care how many applicants they have to deal with - they contacted this person to arrange a phone screening with him and then just ghosted him. It's rude, it's ignorant, and the recruiter failed big time.
I don't know if there is much you can do.
Is the position still up ?
Many biotech companies are hiring freeze now, so it could be a position that they longer can fill and don't bother responding.
You need to identify a few different companies even if they don’t have a role open currently. You follow-up but don’t put all your eggs into one basket. I recommend calling the recruiter and getting them on the phone if you can.
Also, keep in a mind a lot of companies are changing around teams due to M&A or layoffs so they may also be pausing or slowing down on hiring.
I’ve heard the term “global company layoffs” far too many times at my employer! The thought of uncertainty regarding my continued gainful employment has unfortunately caused me to be open to work again. I can’t cope with the anxiety of potentially being unemployed through no fault of my own.
