They’re not vanishing, but the bar is insanely high and the market is crowded, so it feels like they are. Hiring is still strong for experienced managers in areas like engineering, data, cloud, and IT project management, but there are way more applicants per role than a few years ago, which is why you’re getting ghosted even on rejections. A lot of “ghost jobs” are also real roles that get frozen or repurposed internally, but nobody bothers to take the posting down
I don’t get the sense that they’re actively hiring. I’ve been applying for months without any response. The positions probably exist, but it doesn’t seem like any of them are currently filling roles.

No rushing you mean? It takes so long to fill a role that they are already overloading a poor employee, not urgent, 3-4 months are fine. lol

I’ve been wondering the same. I’ve seen tons of listings that feel like ghost jobs—either filled internally or created just to collect resumes. It makes the job hunt feel performative. I keep asking myself: is this market shrinking or just more opaque than ever?
Managerial roles in tech aren’t disappearing, but companies are flattening org charts, so openings are fewer and slower to fill. Demand now favors leadership tied to high-impact projects and emerging tech.
