Hi all. I am trying to determine if I am being compensated fairly. I am a tax manager (about to start my second year as manager) and have been with EY since staff 1. I was promoted to manager in June 2020 (during covid) and received a 7.5% raise. The class above me has mentioned they received much higher raises during their promotion years. My base salary is now approx. 97K. Any insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks!
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I don’t believe him about either statement. I do think we are heading into a recession but I highly doubt the unemployment rate will meet 20%.
As someone who is pregnant, scheduled to start maternity leave in April and has been on the bench since the beginning of February because my project keeps getting delayed - YES. I have a very real fear of getting laid off which would be absolutely catastrophic for me, my husband, my son, and my unborn child that’s already been diagnosed with a CHD. To say I’m scared would be an understatement.
Yup. I will hit the bench on June 1 and all the project leads I had lined up have dried up or “postponed”.

Yes - people are already getting fired after 6 weeks on the bench. Clients will spend be spending less. The recovery will be slower than the decline.
I already regret how much money I spent and how little I saved at the end of this bull run before this got serious.

Yes, they can. In order for it to be illegal, I’d have to prove that it was due explicitly to pregnancy. There is no law that protects from general workforce reductions. With all that being said though, talk about terrible optics.
Times like these that I'm glad I'm on a long term staff Aug project in an indispensable role for the client. Recession or not, we're not going anywhere.
