Hi! I'm currently trying to move into the IT field and have been getting a few interviews for smaller tech companies, but I'm interested in applying to larger names like Google. Does anyone happen to know what hiring managers or recruiters may be looking for in a cover letter? Do they really read cover letters or are they just scanned through ATS systems? Should I be trying to match keywords from the job listing or go with a more personal approach? Any advice would be appreciated!

A few weeks ago I sent my resume in for a PCA posting. I’m qualified for the position yet never heard anything back. Not even a confirmation that my application was received. Is there anyway to reach out about it or should I just forget it and move on?

I got a job offer for what seems to be a great company but I’m not sure if I would have the same life balance. I started interviewing as a way to see my worth in the industry. My current role is at a small company, and I’m not sure how I could grow within the role because Im not advancing my skill, I just do the same thing every day at a lower level. I like my current role because it’s flexible and I’m paid well for not doing very much work. Should I switch to a more rigorous job?

I started my first in-house role about 4 months ago and I don’t think it’s the right fit. I love the no billable hours aspect, but otherwise I miss the structure of being at a firm. How long do you think I should try to stick this out before I move on? So I work at a small (6 people) accounting firm, not in a big city, but I've been there 3 busy seasons for tax, I've passed 2/4 CPA exams, and I make $40k. No passing bonus, no raise structure, idk what their plan is for me after I get my license, basically no benefits.
So I want more, I love the people but I think I should leave, I don't know where to look though. I'm nervous about a big 4, i don't know if I can go industry without big 4 experience, any advice?

What does a person do when they’re uninspired by their career? I used to have a lot of passion for my work, but over the past 3-4 years the flame in me got smothered.

I seem to always hit this stage in each of my job positions where I “master”my assigned tasks and receive compliments on my work but nothing ever comes out of it. I then get anxious and job hop.

Is leaving for a Director level position in the industry a step backwards if an audit senior manager? Fortune 500 company and right under the controller.
