My pronouns aren’t there so you know what to call me. My pronouns are there so any of my colleagues can feel more comfortable putting their pronouns out that describe who they truly are. If everyone had their pronouns in their signature, then we’d normalize calling people by their preferred terms. This concept is meant to help others be able to show up at work more confidently and thus be more likely to do great work and stay at our firm longer.

I think it’s a joke - that all the HR people have pronouns in their email signatures. That said, I agree with OP that adding standard pronouns to email signatures is dumb virtue signaling.

I'll admit I am white and in my 30s and am "over" a lot of the DEI communications (at least when they were coming out with the frequency they used to). I am visually pretty much your stereotype of what that looks like. That being said, even if I just ignore most of those communications now, I still care about the people themselves affected by these topics. And what someone wants to be called has zero impact on me, allows me to better know and support/coach a coworker, and having that information can save some awkward interactions. Further, we are in a business where awkward interactions can fracture relationships and affect the bottom line. Plus, internally we can't have the culture that (at least in my organization we talk about having amongst my colleagues) by just having us all be exactly the same. You know what they say about variety.

I’m not a pronoun person either but on the scale of things that bother me, this doesn’t even make a top 10
I’m guessing you’ll also filter all “DEI hires” straight to junk as well?
