Nothing about the minority/POC experience has been easy for me. Living in the coastal US adds a further layer of adversity because the assumption is things are better here for us. They’re not. I continue to be treated differently.

I’ve always had a hard time networking, even now that I’m older and have been around the industry for a good bit of time. But I do try to look at it as quality over quantity at least. The network I do have built is solid to me, but adding anyone new is hard and not often.

You can start whenever.
This is likely a contributing factor when you see so many leadership positions only filled by white folks. So many of those opportunities to grow and get promoted into positions of leadership are built through relationships and networking and not skill or experience. This is how racial bias covertly holds poc back.

This! I moved up in leadership starting in 2017 and it has always been more white. My current company tho has a pretty diverse leadership group. Most of the group are women or POC
