I don’t have any personal experience in this area but from what I’ve seen on FB over the years, option B is often suggested if you can afford it.
Type “visa” or “visas” in the search field and select “Threads.” You’ll see a lot of similar posts come up.
Know that the job market is absolutely terrible in NYC, Chicago, and LA right now though.
Check with accountant. Your visa should be tax deductible.

I definitely agree with the comment right above this. Its not that A isn't a good idea but lie you said it will certainly be a harder choice. If you can afford to pay for it and then go on the job hunt that is going to be the better option.

A is never good long term. Lose your job, lose your visa
Option B is complicated at the moment. A lot of agencies will require you to transfer them the visa and since that costs them $$$ they are ditching a lot of candidates with O1s. If you have contacts for freelance opportunities, that could work.
