As an unaligned analyst at a firm that does "everything", what technologies do you recommend learning that can result in the most desirable tech exit opps? Not a developer.

Learn how to “think” and how to “write”.

If you can communicate your thoughts extremely clearly in a logical data-driven way, then this will help you in anything that you do.

Technologies come and go, but a strong communicator who can think logically and is data-driven will always be in high demand.

Start with learning AWS. Once you’re proficient, most of the concepts are transferable to GCP and Azure

SA1 haha the reason I made this post was because of the guy who posted about the $250k aws offer, and it got me thinking...

If the firm is willing to train and staff you on a bunch of stuff, might as well find my own direction.

I'm a CDP analyst and since most analysts want to do "management" consulting, I'm trying to build my network in other areas

Partner 1 thanks for the input, but it doesn't answer the question.

You're absolutely right, no doubt, about the importance of those traits. However, those skills can be built naturally over time and with an emphasis on being mindful.

Beyond building soft skills, I want to look into learning a new area.

Huge “if” on the company willing to train you in what you want to do. I spent two years in CDP until I felt stuck and left. Best of luck though, OP

A2 mind sharing your story?

Any training request on the trending technologies (i.e. cloud, analytics, etc) have all been shut down and it’s hard to get staffed on the projects you are interested in without these skills. So you end up being stuck on a project that’s not aligned to your interests because roll off is essentially impossible without having another project lined up. That’s just my case though

Mid 2020, I turned down an opportunity to jump ship from my small law firm to a big law firm. At the time I had 4 years of practice under my belt with managerial experience. I thought the offer was reasonable, come in at a 2nd year level, but with the uncertainty of the times I played it safe. Now I regret it. What avenues do I have, if any, to jump into big law from a small firm?

Controversial question - what are some roles/functions to avoid at Google for ex-management consultants, in terms of potential under-utilization of skills and limited career progression? Common exit opps tend to be in StratOps, PMM, PgM/Solutions Consultant, roles in Sales; would anyone not recommend any of these roles?

I love the private world but am really ready to move up. I don’t know what I should do. Any suggestions?
