No, EY will only disclose dates of employment and (I believe) title.
It’s my understanding that firms disclose dates of employment, title and compensation. That’s it.
A general rule of thumb for employers is to prevent stating anything other than dates of employment.
Providing additional information could potentially cause a legal hassle (if one suspects the former employer is being untruthful).
also, do you mind me asking the level of your friend? Just trying to gather some info on whether I leave the firm.
The firm won’t say anything, but I’d say 9 times out of 10, the hiring manager will have a back channel to a current firm employee to get the real story. I can say I get calls about 10x a year asking about a candidates background from friends, former coworkers, etc
It's illegal to disclose reason of cause.
This is not true (at least in any state I have lived in). The employer can legally say anything they want about you that is truthful
Can you apply for unemployment insurance for EY Lay-off?
Depends on the state, but most likely yes. I did in IL.
