At one time for a long long time, I always felt like a failure no matter what I did. I went home feeling horrible. That I didn’t do good enough. Then I realized, (after I started working from home) hey wait a minute the expectations were too high I set myself up for. My boss wasn’t doing it, I was doing it. My boss did everything she could to help me. I was the one taking on too much. Always taking on to much no matter where I went. Brings on Anxiety which can lead to depression.

Thank you for your experience. What has always benefited me is balance. While my life has been turmotuous. Roller coaster of disappointments.
I split my 24 hr. days into 3/. 24 hr periods. 8 hrs. Employment. 8 hrs. Sleep. And 8 hrs. Me time. 8 hrs. Me time is discipline, solitude. Reading , swimming, cooking cycling. Stay busy.
This balance has kept me solid through many tense moments.
The pendulum of fate swings both ways. As much as You will have good days. Is as much as you will have bad days.
If you are balanced then you will just cruise on by 😎

They asked me, will you take this assignment. I always always always said, Yes. Why did I do it. Here is why, “People pleasing”. I wasn’t doing things for myself. I wasn’t being fair to myself nor my bosses. It has taken me a while to see it. I was hurting myself.

I rented a house that had been vacant for a bit & the prior tenant didn’t do a thorough job cleaning up. Agent indicated the owner would be open to having the house cleaned but I would need to have the house professionally cleaned when I moved out (that was fine w me). I just received the bill from the owner for $250, which is super annoying bc there was no expectation communicated that I would foot the bill for this, more so bc the cleaner did a LOUSY job. I just learned I was parentified severely, especially emotionally. The discovery came from outside of therapy, but having a place every week to sit down, slow down & reflect def led to it. Being enmeshed with my parents like this was a cause for my anxiety, low self esteem and workaholic, people pleasing tendencies. I'm working on extricating myself and finding my identity again in a way that will be easy on my conscience and values..so I'm learning! Please dont hesitate to go to therapy!...

I’ve suffered from workaholism for a long time. Thanks to a lot of great self help books and therapy, I’m no longer putting work on a pedestal and I’m spending a lot more time on self care and my marriage.
